Characteristics
- An external helical wrapper, replacing conventional wire mesh backing, tightly binds each ply for uniform, rigid ply spacing. This minimizes pleat flexing and possible filter element damage, even under severe cold start or pressure overload conditions, providing reliable performance.
- The plastic structure of the ends incorporates flow channels facilitating the circulation of the oil, thus minimizing the effects of pressure drop and maintenance costs by increasing the fatigue cycles of the element.
- The filter element is made up of inert inorganic fibers of extremely small diameter allowing more pores per unit area, securely attached to a fixed and conical pore structure obtaining a high particle removal efficiency during the element's useful life, improving the traditional uniform pore design that clogs quickly when dirt covers the external surface of the filter media. Conical pores separate particles through their entire depth, for maximum dirt-holding capacity, consistent performance and long life.
- The tightness of the O-ring, the strength of the reinforced polymer end caps and the core as part of the filter housing make this element 60% lighter than traditional designs with the added value of being an environmentally friendly, crushable and incinerable product, reducing disposal and maintenance costs.
Description
Nortek High Performance Filters incorporate state-of-the-art design technology, including a unique helical wrap pleat support system and component element structure, for unsurpassed strength, performance and life. The result is a cost-effective solution, clearly superior to traditional filter designs.
Design and principle of operation
Both the design and the composition of the elements are designed to facilitate the circulation of the oil through the filter, minimizing pressure losses and retaining contaminants as they pass through the filter elements according to the degree of filtration that is desired (Beta Ratio “β”: The number of particles entering the filter, divided by the number of particles leaving the filter).
The effectiveness of the filter element in contaminant control depends on its design and its sensitivity to any unstable operating conditions, which may stress and damage the filter element.

Applications
Nortek filters are suitable for hydraulic systems, mechanism lubrication and fluid control, under conditions of high pressure and temperature, where the oil is full of contaminants and dust, allowing to preserve the useful life of both the equipment components and the hydraulic fluid.
